Big Sky Documentary Film Festival DocShop
Missoula Public Library hosts the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival DocShop 2025.
The 2025 DocShop conference will focus on “Understanding the 21st Century Documentary Audience,” a full-spectrum examination of the ways in which audience considerations affect artistic choices, social impact, distribution streams, market potential, cultural narratives, and industry trends. This conference takes place on the heels of one of the most profound shifts in the documentary industry as streaming has ostensibly replaced the long-conventional models of distribution, transforming the way audiences consume, respond to, and interact with media. DocShop 2025 seeks to demystify documentary audiences, empowering filmmakers to understand the aesthetic and rhetorical function of the modern documentary form to build a resilient toolkit to navigate the evolving documentary landscape.
All DocShop 2025 events held at Missoula Public Library are free and open to the public.
